From brflanagan at vassar.edu Mon Jul 19 15:10:43 2021 From: brflanagan at vassar.edu (Brendan Flanagan) Date: Mon, 19 Jul 2021 15:10:43 -0400 Subject: [Brflanagan-l] Fall 6 Message-ID: <00A7318C-C5BC-464C-AECD-F2B56D21D73C@vassar.edu> Dear Students, I hope you are all taking care of yourselves and having a restorative summer with friends and families. I am enjoying some downtime to be with my family and catch up on some books that I’ve had my eyes on. I am writing with a few updates for the Fall 2021 semester. As we announced this past Spring, Vassar will return to an entirely in-person teaching semester for the 2021-2022 academic year. Aside from students with approved medical and religious exemptions, all students are required to be fully vaccinated. Students should submit their immunization records to the Vaccine Patient Portal no later than August 9, 2021, as well as bring this documentation on their move-in day. Students who do not submit the appropriate medical or exemption paperwork will not be allowed to move into their Fall housing assignment. In addition, we will require all students (regardless of vaccination status) to submit a negative pre-arrival COVID-19 test taken no more than three days before arrival. Pre-arrival tests should be uploaded using and brought to show on move-in day. This year we will accept any (rapid) antigen, saliva, or PCR test. Students who test positive or need to self-quarantine will do so at nearby off-campus locations at the College's expense. Any student that has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past ninety days is exempt from this pre-arrival requirement. For the remainder of the semester, students will follow a testing schedule corresponding to their vaccination status. The testing plan for the Fall is as follows: Student Vaccine Status Pre-Arrival Entry Test Day 4 Antigen Test Day 7 Antigen Test Weekly Community Care Antigen Testing Domestic Vaccinated Yes No No No Domestic Unvaccinated Yes Yes Yes Yes International Vaccinated Yes Yes No No International Unvaccinated Yes, must self-quarantine for 7 days. Yes Yes Yes *Based on CDC and ACHA guidelines. No testing is required for 90 days after a positive COVID test. Positive test results must be submitted to Health Services for validation. For any questions about testing and vaccines, please reach out to Health Services directly at Unless approved for   or a part of a pre-orientation program, first-year students will move-in beginning on August 22, 2021. Because families are being allowed to accompany their students, every first-year student will receive an individual move-in time to help limit campus density at any one time. Returning student move-in will take place between August 26 - August 29, 2021. Please reach out to the Office of Residential Life for any questions about move-in at Given that we will have a high density of people on campus, and many will be traveling to campus from various locations worldwide, we will have a mask policy for on-campus move-in. We expect that everyone wears a mask when indoors as we engage with those not in your family on that day. We appreciate your willingness to show this kind of community care and embrace Vassar’s We Precedes Meethos. Outside of move-in, we plan to follow our current masking policy for the Fall semester. This means that masks are required indoors for any student or employee who is not fully vaccinated. Masks are not required for anyone outdoors. Everyone is, of course, welcome to use masks indoors and outdoors regardless of their vaccination status. As new data and information about variants continues to emerge, we ask that you check your email regularly to ensure that you are aware of our most up-to-date information and policies. We have also created the following which we hope you will find helpful in answering any questions. For now, please continue to enjoy your summer. We look forward to seeing you in a little over a month!
