Due to the blizzard currently traveling through the region the college’s
offices and departments will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday January 27, with
the exception of the following areas: Safety & Security, Residential Life,
Dining, and Buildings & Grounds. Employees from these few areas will hear
from their supervisors about further details.

This closure includes The Retreat (food will only be served at ACDC),
Health Services, Vassar College Store, athletics facilities, the libraries,
Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, and the post office. Today the libraries
will close early at 5:00pm and The Retreat will close early at 6:00pm. Each
will re-open for normal hours on Wednesday.

Residential Life inquiries for returning students should be directed to the
Residential Operations Center on the fourth floor of Main (x7169,
roc at vassar.edu). Students should carry their room keys at all times. Students
who are locked out will need to go to the ROC for loaner key. NOTE: Safety
& Security provides no transportation services for students returning to
campus.

With Health Services closed, emergencies will be handled by local hospital
providers coordinated with Safety & Security, as is the college’s normal
protocol.

Spring semester classes are expected to begin as scheduled on Wednesday.
Accommodations will be made for students delayed by travel complications.
While the College Store will be closed on Tuesday, its hours will be
extended into the later evening for the rest of the week to ensure that
students can buy their textbooks.

Vassar’s automated weather advisory phone number is regularly updated at
x7755. Overall emergency response information for the college is available
via http://info.vassar.edu/resources/emergency/

We are grateful to everyone who will work tomorrow under these challenging
conditions, and wish all a safe day.

Robert Walton

Vice-President for Finance and Administration
