		       Noon - 2:00 p.m.
	       Room 12, Basement Sanders Physics

You are cordially invited to attend an OPEN HOUSE for Vassar's new
ROBOTICS LAB to be held this coming Friday, Dec. 3, from Noon until
2:00 p.m. The lab is located in Room 12 in the basement of Sanders
Physics (on the East side of the building).

The Open House is especially geared toward students and faculty
interested in exploring opportunities for future research, including
students working on URSI projects or in the annual Robotics
Competition. The current faculty, all of whom participate in the
multidisciplinary program in cognitive science, are eager to see the
lab live up to its interdisciplinary name, and encourage visitors from
any field who have an interest in the technology of autonomous
machines, the simulation of such systems, or the use of these
technologies in studies of telepresence, virtual reality, or related
phenomena. The Open House will include demos and, most importantly,
FOOD & DRINK!

The Interdisciplinary Robotics Research Laboratory (IRRL) is funded
by an NSF equipment grant awarded to five Vassar faculty: John Long
(PI) (Biology), Tom Ellman (Computer Science), Luke Hunsberger
(Computer Science), Ken Livingston (Psychology) and Brad Richards
(Computer Science). In addition, Vassar supplied substantial matching
funds. The renovation of Room 12 was managed by Rachel Kitzinger and
John McEnrue, and was completed this semester.

For more information on the lab, please visit the lab's web site:
