Today, Tuesday, October 14, 2008, is the world's first Open Access Day. See
<http://openaccessday.org/about/>.
The founding partners are SPARC <http://www.arl.org/sparc/>,  Students for a
Free Culture <http://freeculture.org/>, and Public Library of Science
<http://www.plos.org/>.

Open Access Day will help to broaden awareness and understanding of Open
Access <http://openaccessday.org/what-is-open-access/>, including recent
mandates and emerging policies, within the international higher education
community and the general public.
