[Vcfilmmakers-l] 4-20 Screening + Weekend Film Screenings + Bulrusher

Hi All,

1. MARK FRIEDBERG:
When putting together plans for your 4-20 today, please remember that we'll be screening The Life Aquatic at 7PM in Rocky 300.

The film's Production Designer, Mark Friedberg, will be in the Rosenwald at 7PM on Wednesday (the 21st) to discuss his extensive film work, Production Design in general, and to answer any questions you might have for him.

We'll be screening the recent Charlie Kaufman film, Synecdoche, New York, beginning at 4:45PM in the Rosenwald right before he comes. (If you haven't seen Synecdoche, it's got some of the coolest production design I've ever seen and is an amazing experience to watch.)



2. FILM HISTORIAN LOU SABINI SCREENINGS THIS WEEKEND:
Lou Sabini will be here this weekend with his own 16MM PRINTS of lesser known films by famous directors. Here's the schedule:

FRIDAY:
2PM = William Wellman's FRISCO JENNY = a controversial classic (70 min)
3:30PM = Preston Sturges' HAIL THE CONQUERING HERO = a film from the original King of Comedy (101 min)
(5:30 = Lunch break)
6PM = Alfred Hitchcock's THE LADY VANISHES = a comedy within the guise of a thriller from the Master of Suspense (97 min)

SATURDAY:
10AM = Frank Capra's PLATINUM BLONDE = a clever newspaper comedy (aka the genre that spawned Citizen Kane) (85 min)
HIGH NOON = John Ford's MY DARLING CLEMENTINE = a poetic Western from the master of the genre (97 min)
(2PM = Lunch break)
2:30PM = Buster Keaton's STEAMBOAT BILL, JR. = a classic from that other (arguably funnier) silent comic (69 min)

There will be an introduction before each film and a brief Q&A following each film. So come out and see these beautiful, actual film prints.



3. VIDEOGRAPHY:
My name is Ann-Marie Alcántara and I am assistant stage managing for Bulrusher. We are in need of a videographer for a taping of our show which goes up April 22-24. Our shows are at 8pm in the Shiva and we were wondering if anyone who is a part of the VC Filmmakers can be our videographer.
