ONE:
The Vassar Filmmakers Exec Board (plus any others that wish to attend) are holding a meeting with the Film Department faculty on Wednesday at 3:30. If you read the article in the current Miscellany News about student film exposure on campus, you'll have noticed that the former head of the Vassar Filmmakers had a few negative things to say about the Film Department. We wanted to convey our assurance to the faculty that Vassar Filmmakers wants to work with them, not against them, and that Brian was speaking as an individual and not as a member of the Vassar Filmmakers. As an individual, however, I will be addressing some of the issues that Brian brought to light - albeit in a more constructive and less accusatory tone. If you wish to attend this meeting please let me know and I will tell you the location as soon as I know it.

TWO:
Sam Wootton, current head of the Film Majors Committee, and Laura Dooling, drama student extraordinaire, both attended Prague film school during their Junior years and will be showing their films in the Rosenwald on Wednesday at 5:30PM. Together their films will not last more than 20 minutes and should be pretty interesting to see. Following the screening will be a discussion of their JYA experiences and the various opportunities available to those wishing to go abroad their Junior year. SO, if you're thinking of going abroad to study film, go to the full event, and if you're already a Junior or Senior, go see the films and get outta there.

TWO AND A HALF:
I hope you all enjoyed Brian's lecture on Friday - I know that I learned more that day between his workshop and Ramin Bahrani's workshop than I have in any other day in my life. I hope that you were all as inspired as I was to go out and make good, brutal films with escalation and beats (not pauses). And if you missed out and don't know what I'm talking about, I have notes and could briefly run through some of the stuff that Brian went through.

Denouementing it,
Kyle

PS - In two Fridays, we'll be having a professional sound guy (or sound person to be PC) up to have a talk entitled Creating a Soundscape: what every filmmaker needs to know about sound (from pre-production through production to post). More details to come.

PPS - Look at the kinds of emails I receive:

Hello;

   My name is Michael and I am a gay nude model in need of some pics(nudes) for my portfolio. When my computer crashed I lost most of my pics---I need them to send out whenever I apply for a modeling job. I was looking for anyone who might be into photography who could take the pics in exchange for my modeling for them. I could model for them alone or I could do a group FREE photo shoot. If you could make this info available to your members I would appreciate that. I know that students do like to use a model for projects so its a win..win for everyone.
    I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME OUT!!

Thanks Michael

(If you want his number, shoot me an email back and I'll send it to you - no questions asked...)
