Hi All,

First off, I would just like to congratulate all of the 12-hour film fest participants for making some pretty fucking awesome films. I personally apologize for all of the technical mishaps during the screening - this was our first time running this event and we learned a lot about how we could make it run more smoothly next year. Also of note, we will try not to schedule Filmmakers events during ViCE events in the future.

TOMORROW we will be having our second CAMERA TUTORIAL in Rocky 201 at 5PM. (I didn't reserve the room this time so in the event that there is already another meeting or class there, there will be a note on the door as to where the tutorial will take place.) If you cannot make this tutorial and did not attend the first one, please contact erschuman at vassar.edu or tioconnor at vassar.edu to schedule a time when you can meet with them to go over the equipment.

This FRIDAY we will again meet at 6PM in Rocky 200 and after a brief meeting will have our first SOUND TUTORIAL, which will be led by yours truly. If you cannot attend this tutorial, the second SOUND TUTORIAL will be the following Wednesday at 5PM. In the event that you cannot make either session, contact me to get trained.

Here are the notes last Friday's meeting:

Meeting 9/25/09

1. Meet Me in Poughkeepsie
-October 10, evening
-Hyde Park, Roosevelt Cinemas
-Tell us what movies you're interested in; email us with suggestions
-Possibilities as of now: Antichrist, Bronson

2. Capital Budgeting:
-Shock-mount with cover and windscreen - getting this will allow 2 groups to use a boom mike when shooting
-Lens adapter - makes the picture quality of the XL2's 5X as good since it allows you to use interchangeable lenses
-Other lenses (18mm wide-angle and 50mm lenses)

3. Website
-A place to post our films online, have a forum, etc.
-We gathered opinions on various layouts
-Possible inclusions:
  -useful links
-tutorial section, or link to manual for cameras and sound equipment
  -scripts, things to workshop
-an "I'm doing this, join me" page
-an "I'm interested in doing a project" page
-an opportunities page (aka internships, film festivals, etc.)

4. FOR NEXT MEETING: PLEASE SEND ME YOUR SCRIPTS, FILMS THAT YOU DID IN THE PAST, OR EVEN JUST IDEAS THAT WE CAN BEGIN TO DEVELOP. Please note that while we would like to use meetings for workshopping scripts and films, we also are very open to working with you in a smaller group to help refine any ideas you might not feel comfortable bringing in for the whole club to workshop.

Your retired knife enthusiast,
Kyle
